Small update to 1.0 (May 12th)

Some fixes and updates to version 1.0


  • Fixed: ARM crash with Windows XP

  • Added a setting to Wow-style to customize the damage text. Hover the mouse over for a hint with the variables

  • Added a small tool via Help/Ping.. This is similar to the popular Leatrix patcher

  • Added a setting to disable player warning tooltips in the tray

  • Fixed: double-clicking on Wow-style bars didn't reset UI from minimalist mode

  • Fixed: changing visual style removed OnTop setting

  • Added a hint over the player name showing their # position in the list

  • Fixed: sm pet dots (Spirit Thunderclaw) are now properly assigned (if assign-sm setting is enabled)

  • Fixed: pvp hits to pets and servants

  • Other misc bug fixes

  • You can now run the exe even if the G15 support DLL is not present

  • Edited hacker lists of various servers.

  • Added a "local" server option, to run with local server emulators (127.0.0.1)

  • On new installs, if Aion path isn't set, but the client is running, ARM will try to find the path by itself.

Little update about the support of new 3.0 skills:

We still don't have 3.0 in Europe (I play in EU), and we are looking at over 6 months past the US release at least. GF changed their release date from "Spring" to "Summer", which could just be end of September honestly. So unless someone can provide me with accounts with lvl60 chars for testing, I won't be able to do much here.

If you are European, you can mail Gameforge and remind them nobody cares about useless translated clients and they should stick to English for the entire European region.

I'm uploading a new build tomorrow with support for some more of the 3.0 skills. It's going slow since I play in Europe, where we are still stuck with 2.7

We are probably getting 3.0 in September/October with some luck. Gameforge still refuses to publish the update until they have all useless languages translated and dubbed, even though the English one was ready months ago.

I guess GF bosses are probably nationalistic xenophobes who can't speak a word of English, so they don't really care. Wish some other company would take over the English servers.

Somehow this slipped in the last few builds and noone ever reported, and I hadn't used SS tree on sorc for a long time so I wasn't aware. CoR was bugged when cast by yourself and not being identified.

Some cool new features in this build:


  • Auto-screenshot arena results: enabled in the settings menu, this one-time setting will take a screenshot automatically when you finish the 1-1 or ffa arena. This is a bit experimental, but should be in time to capture the results window most times before the players leave (isn't that annoying?)


  • Bad score warning when players apply: ARM will warn you when you are recruiting and a player with a bad score (bad/blacklist/hacker) in your local database applies. You can disable it in the settings window.


  • Click-through display: enabled in the settings menu, this will generate a copy of the display, transparent, which you can move and locate where you want. Once set, double-click it and it will become click-through, so that if you click on it, it'll be as if you actually clicked on the Aion client (or whatever is behind), as if the window wasn't really there. You must keep the main window active for this to work (not minimized). Ideally, the main window should be set to not ontop (the click-through will be always ontop). If you wish to re-locate the window, you can right-click the tray icon and click Re-position...

Added a larger delay for the auto-screenshot after arenas, so it waits ~1 second. It was half a second before and it seemed to trigger the screenshot too early before the score results appeared. It may be too late though now sometimes, need to experiment a bit with the timing.

Hello :)

It's been barely 10 months since I published the very first version of ARM, ~7-8 since the first usable version with dps etc, and about a year since I started this project. Last few days we reached 25.000 downloads, and ~400 of the cfg edit tool, must say I didn't expect the software to become so popular, mostly in the last few months.

I was checking the first few versions.. and omg, it was so ugly -.- I'm more of a code guy so I'm not really very good at designing friendly and good looking UIs, but I've tried my best build after build to make it more usable and easier to use for first timers and after new features, trying to think every possible scenario after an install and possible issues with setting up the chat.log etc.

First beta version I published, just as a test/announcement of the development

Some users probably don't use most of the extra features it offers, and I understand it might be a little confusing or complicated understanding what everything's for, though I've tried to keep the basic functionality simple and ready without any extra configuration. I am always welcoming feedback, so be sure to contact me anytime with your ideas or thoughts. I have received tons of feedback from users, here in the comments, through the contact form, in-game, on boards, thank you everyone who one way or another contributed to making this little app so successful :)

Added support for European PTS (just launched). You can now launch it with ARM as well, (64-bit too).

Simply use Help/update or relaunch the program to get the new build.

Note: if you wanna make a separate setting for the PTS, so that you dont have to keep changing the log path between retail and pts, do this:

  • Copy AionRainMeter.exe to a new folder

  • Make a shortcut to the exe, and add /portable to the parameters

  • Close previous ARM and run this one


This way ARM will use a subfolder in that folder to read/store the config, and the original one won't be altered.

False possitive from Avira

Hi,

Last few builds seem to be having trouble with some antivirus, due to using a different exe linker/reloc stripper, specifically bitdefender, g-data, avira and a couple more were triggering as suspicious. I contacted them and sent them samples and most updated their database for the proper recognition as a clean exe, but Avira seems to still be a bit behind.

Rest assured there are no virus or anything suspicious in ARM, you can send the executable to virustotal.com for a check. Here are the results with the latest build:

I submitted the sample also to Avira, but their only response seemed to be an automated "exe is clean and false possitive" email, no information about whether they are updating their DBs to properly check this case.

Rampant hacking in Euro servers

Seems Gameforge has finally gone completely crazy and unbanned all long time hackers who had been banned even months ago, including extremelly clear cases with plenty of videos glidehacking and players with Padma weapons before the boss was even killed once.

Only thing you can do is spam the support with every hacker sending them the reports (preferably paste it in pastebin as it can be very large and the ticket form won't fit it), every single time, maybe eventually they decide to do something about it.

Tip: use different settings for PTS

Little tip if you are playing the PTS often. I know it's annoying to switch server/log path in the settings when you want to alternate between pts and retail, so here's a tip to make this easier:

  • Make a new folder somewhere and copy the AionRainMeter.exe file there

  • Make a shortcut to that new exe in your desktop or anywhere

  • Edit the shortcut and add "/portable" to the commandline parameters


This way, ARM will use a subfolder in the residing exe location to use as the source for settings/screenshots etc, separate from the normal user/Appdata
